Default Thank you for Prayers~ Daughter

Thank you everyone who prayed for my daughter Melyssa.
I posted about her marriage, but did I post about her illness?
She became sick last spring, but thought it was a flu bug and was
up and down all summer until she finally started to be concerned.
So fast forward, in Sept. her doctor tested her for disease, she had lost about 20 pounds...
He thought it was PV, a rare blood cancer, but with insurance now, she has been through MUCH
testing and the diagnosis is hemachromotosis, where the body absorbs too much iron. A blood disease
and once thought to be male-only, but it is not.
Doctors do not test for this routinely, and we have seen that it can be very debilitating and even fatal.
There are few symptoms. It is a simple blood test, and I would urge everyone to get tested and
have everyone in your family tested, just to be sure. The treatment if iron hasn't built up in your organs
such as liver, heart, kidneys is simple: giving blood.
We have been through a scary few months where my daughter ended up in the hospital
a couple of times. She is feeling better now, and we are waiting for the results to some of the tests.

Thank you for prayers, and I am happy to return them to all!

Linda, I will keep Melyssa in my prayers. I pray she gets good results from her tests.

Thank you, Renee. So far it looks like it is hemochromotosis with some damage to
her liver. She is getting more info. It seems slow!
The doctors want her to have the hepatitis A&B shots to make
sure she won't get either. She is doing better.
    Thank you for the prayers!!

    Hi Renee!

Thank you for asking. I see I am WAYYY behind in posting!

    Is it really 6 months??

Well, Melyssa has been in and out of the ER for critically-low potassium, due to
continueing nausea and inability to get all of her meds down, not to mention food
and liquids. But she did find a drink in of all places, the liquor store, that is high
in potassium and other nutrients as well as being really good. Apparently, people use it for
a "hang-over" cure, and although she has looked for it all over the web, she can't find it anywhere else. I
forgot what it was called. But it helps a lot.
Also, nursing service that comes out to give IV nutrients and medications. It helps a lot,
also the liquids, but especially the pain meds that are IV are ones she can't stomach via pills.

We got together last week to give blood, beneficial to help her drop
her iron level, and granddaughter Sami gave (she's 16) and I did too. So we
had 3 generations in there~ lol!
This week Melyssa is feeling better and scheduling two stomach tests. One is to
find out if her stomach empties abnormally slow, the other is for a camera to be inserted into her stomach,
to see if there are any issues.

So far, so good. Thank you for the prayers!!
